Va-Ca AWAY

We stayed at the famous Cresent Hotel in Eureka Springs. What a history filled place that is. When you first get to the downtown historic part of Eureka Springs you notice that all of the building were built right into the side of the hills. There are numerous natural springs throughout the entire town and like i said, the buildings are straight up. The Cresent Hotel sits up top the hill overlooking all the other hotels and shops. I guess when it was first opened it was a hotel that converted into a hospital. Some guy that ran the hospital-Who didnt have a medical degree-did alot of experimenting on crazy people. He would invite thousands of people to the hop ital to watch as he sliced open peoples skulls and poured this type of acid on their exposed brains. That was his way of curing people of cancer. (Now that would be enough to make me quit smoking). Also some guy fell off a scaffolding during a remodel and landed where our room was. The famous room 218! We did exactly see and ghosts but there were alot of people taking pictures outside our door all night long. We even had some big ol biker dudes push our door open and when we went out to see who opened our door the guys go, " It just flew open when we touched it". Yeah like some ghost pushed it open. right! Was a very beautiful old hotel, lots of history, beautiful landscaping, but no real ghosts. We also visited the cosmic caverns. Down and dirty. That place was a mess. Fun, but a mess. I'm not sure that the people who were running it weren't setting themselves up for a lawsuit because you were having t crawl through little bitty openings and had these old rickety wooden stairs, bad handrails, geez-really?! no ones been hurt down there yet? Its was however, a very interesting adventure and because we made it through alive I would have to give it a 8 on the fun-o-meter!
